BJ Services anticipates that the contract will create 30 new jobs in Perth to support the project during the next three years.
The Gorgon project involves the development of the Jansz and Gorgon fields located approximately 130—200 km off the northwest coast of Western Australia.
The project consists of subsea facilities, offshore and onshore pipelines and umbilicals tied back to an LNG processing facility on Barrow Island.
BJ Services has said that a dedicated zone at its Perth base will be created to quarantine all equipment designated for use on Barrow Island.

“One of the keys to success of this operation will be the cleaning and preparation of all equipment to meet the stringent quarantine standards on Barrow Island,” the company stated.
Engineering and planning work commenced in January 2010, and the first mobilisation is scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of 2010.
The Gorgon LNG Development is a joint venture between Chevron as operator, ExxonMobil, Shell, Osaka Gas, Tokyo Gas and Chubu Electric.
