The Australian Pipeline Industry Association has a new initiative, the Young People’s Forum, to be held 5 - 6 May 2006 in Canberra. This is an excellent opportunity for the industry’s under 35s to exchange ideas and hear useful information about the pipeline industry.
Ideas, initiative, incentive and industry were the themes of the day at the Young People’s Forum in Canberra, where an enthusiastic audience gathered, keen to learn more about the range of careers and opportunities in the pipeline industry.
A very important event in the calendar of the international pipeline research community, the Joint Technical Meeting, will take place in Canberra during April 2007.
A recently executed project in Canberra has highlighted the important role HDD can play in pipeline installations, when accuracy is critical to ensuring the right connections are in place for a pipeline to flow.
At the recent Joint Technical Meeting, the Best Paper Award was awarded to Valerie Linton, Erwin Gamboa and Michael Law for their paper entitled ‘Fatigue Crack Extension and Repair of Pipes with SCC Cracks’. The first time a best paper has been awarded at a JTM, the selection was made by prominent international pipeline expert David Batte.
The APIA Research and Standards Committee was the proud host of the 16th Joint Technical Meeting (JTM) on Pipeline Research held at the Hyatt Hotel in Canberra from 17 to 20 April 2007.
Each year the Australian Gas Industry Trust (AGIT) convenes the annual Gas Speak Colloquium. Gas Speak provides an opportunity for younger members of the gas industry to develop their communication skills and industry awareness as well as providing networking opportunities.
The APIA Research and Standards Committee (RSC) is tasked with developing the knowledge of Australia’s pipeline industry. The RSC’s recent Forum, held on 11 June in Canberra, saw technical experts gather to look towards the future.
