The Melbourne APIA dinner was held on 4 March at Hilton on the Park and sponsored by Petro Coating Systems and AJ Lucas.
Mr Hunt addressed the crowd with a speech entitled ‘Clean Energy, clean water and new pipeline infrastructure,’ before launching APIA’s revised Code of Environmental Practice.
He said that pipeline infrastructure is set to play a pivotal role in moves to secure Australia’s water supply and in the transition to a clean energy economy.

Mr Hunt said that the expansion of the natural gas sector is critical to a clean energy economy as it is a proven method of power generation that is available now.
In addition, he pointed to major opportunities for the pipeline sector for carbon capture and storage for both gas and coal carbon dioxide emissions.
The revised Code of Environmental Practice was prepared on behalf of APIA, under the direction of APIA’s working group on the environment. The document will serve to be a reference for best environmental practice, providing uniform standards that encourage a consistent approach for the construction, operation and decommissioning of pipelines.
The working group was co-ordinated by Dan Morgan, with involvement from Kim Hardy, Garry Davis, Ada Cinaglia, Oleg Morozow, Stephen Milne, Lisa Carson and Jim Nikolareas.
