Over 100 members attended the Melbourne dinner, which was held at the Hilton and sponsored by McConnell Dowell and Denso.

Attendees enjoyed addresses from APIA Chief Executive Cheryl Cartwright, Denso Australia General Manager Paul Taylor and McConnell Dowell General Manager Mark Twycross.

Following dinner, attendees has expected to listen to Victorian Minister for Energy and Resources Peter Batchelor speak about pipeline opportunities within the State, however Mr Batchelor was unable to attend due to last minute Parliamentary commitments. Marianne Lourey, Executive Director of Energy and Earth Resources Policy at the Victorian Department of Primary Industries, gave up her evening to take his place.

Ms Lourey delivered Mr Batchelor’s address with wit and in her own style, outlining changes to the industry in terms of government policy and discussing issues relating to an emissions trading scheme for the energy industry. She concluded that there are exciting times ahead for the development of the Victorian pipeline industry.
