One of these companies, MJ Hedges Geomeasure, has been working in the Queensland Surat Basin assisting petroleum companies since 1977. The survey work for Silver Springs Gas Pipeline was carried out by MJ Hedges for Bridge Oil in 1977. They established a permanent office in Roma soon after this and have been servicing the pipeline industry in this area ever since.

This has gained more importance recently with the development of the coal seam gas industry around Roma. Fyfe also has a proud history supporting the survey industry in South Australia for 25 years including survey and engineering work for the pipeline industry over the past 14 years.

Fyfe has increased its support in this period through the acquisition of MJ Hedges Geomeasure in 2001 and the Northern Territory survey company J Matthews and Associates in 2008. Both of these organisations have expanded significantly since they were acquired by Fyfe taking on additional activities to service the pipeline industry.

The workforce is continuing to expand with nearly 200 employees locating in seven offices throughout South Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory. Fyfe’s future lies in being a national survey and engineering company that can provide services to the pipeline industry.
