NationWide Hire rents off-road and project specific trucks to the mining and construction industries, and has enjoyed steady growth over the last five years leading to a rapidly expanding fleet of fit-for-purpose vehicles.

General Manager John Wilton believes that the purchase of the company’s 300th vehicle represents a significant milestone for the Hunter Valley-based business.

“Whilst a fleet of 300 is not large compared to many, we think it is an important and exciting milestone in our development” Mr Wilton said.

“The growth of NationWide has been driven by demand from our clients, so it’s very pleasing for us to see that our trucks and our services are in such high demand.”

NationWide’s strong client base, which consists of major contractors around Australia, has constantly evolving transport requirements due to the diverse nature of the industries they’re in.

The company therefore needs to consistently provide high quality products and service, and according to Mr Wilton, the reliability of Isuzu trucks helps keep the business ahead of the game.

Mr Wilton said “We believe Isuzu trucks suit our needs better than any other truck on the market. They are reliable, straightforward to maintain, and give us very little trouble.”

The vehicles

The company’s 300th vehicle is its 216th Isuzu; it has purchased 115 new Isuzu trucks since 2007.

To service clients across such a variety of applications, including crane trucks, water trucks, fuel trucks and flat beds, NationWide’s fleet includes many Isuzu NPR models along with NPS and FTS 750 4x4 models, and large FVZ 1400s.

NationWide also offers a unique modulated fleet, enabling the use of one truck for several different purposes. This allows it to better provide its clients with exactly what they need.

Reliability

According to Mr Wilton, many of the company’s trucks operate in isolated and harsh conditions, so clients need to have confidence in the reliability of its vehicles. To this end, the company follows a strict maintenance program, which complies with the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme.

“We plan to turn our fleet over every five years,” Mr Wilton said. “Isuzu trucks are not difficult to sell and hold their value longer than some other brands. We also ensure that tour fleet is properly maintained, so our trucks are not neglected and are in good condition at the end of their lives.”

The company will continue working with Isuzu in the future, in order to maintain their strong service and product offerings.

“We’re looking forward to continuing our relationship with Isuzu, and maintaining steady growth as a company,” said Mr Wilton.
