Nine young pipeliners, led by the NSW YPF’s Mark Dragar, visited the Eastern Gas Pipeline to witness hot tapping being undertaken as part of the Tullawarra project. Unfortunately, a change in timing meant that the tapping was rescheduled but the group was welcomed to the site, and Hans Borek of Alinta (managers of the Eastern Gas Pipeline) provided an outline of the procedure and issues related to hot tapping.

The group headed to Orrcon to witness production of ERW pipe and also to OneSteel to witness pipe being manufactured. The dual visit strongly cemented in the minds of the attendees the process and allowed ample opportunity for questions.
