Key new appointments, coupled with the successful commissioning of a new petrolatum manufacturing plant and the addition of new products and services have strengthened and complemented Petro Coating Systems’ (PCS’) existing business model.

Petrolatum manufacturing plant

PCS’ new petrolatum manufacturing plant, located at its head office in Bundoora, Victoria, was commissioned in June 2009, incorporating a range of technologies designed to ensure a level of product quality and consistency, which has not previously been seen in the petrolatum tape arena.

This new manufacturing capacity was introduced to service both the domestic and international pipeline and jetty pile coating markets.

An official plant opening day is planned for December 2009.

Coating services division

Responding to an identified need in the pipeline industry for high quality short run coating services, PCS launched its Coating Services Division in January 2009.

Met with success, contracts were secured for the coating of linepipe, horizontal directional drills and field joint coating in 2009.

Powercrete R95 Novolac Epoxy has featured heavily in these projects and will soon be complemented by Powercrete R65 F1, which delivers the same benefits as R95 with faster cure times.

Carbon fibre composite wraps from Citadel Technologies

PCS are distributing products for Citadel Technologies, the leading developer of Carbon Fibre Composite Wraps for the remedial strengthening of steel pipelines.

The company has over 20 years experience in the development and application of reinforcement wraps and has an enviable track record of successful applications around the world.

A custom developed proprietary software package is utilised to verify operating parameters and define the correct solution to any reinforcement problems. PCS personnel are accredited to train and certify installers in the correct application of all Citadel Technologies products.

Tuff N Nuff Ultra Heavy Duty Rockshield

In addition, PCS is the supplier of Greensteak Corporation’s Tuff N Nuff Ultra Heavy Duty Rockshield. The product is designed around unique ‘spaghetti’ like matrix construction, which results in an incredibly dense weave of PVC stands. These are virtually impenetrable by even the harshest of backfills.

Tuff N Nuff has demonstrated that it outperforms the competition through its extensive in-field performance evaluation and testing.

The product can also now be furnished with an integral corrosion inhibiting compound which is fully compatible with sacrificial and impressed current cathodic protection systems.
