The Queensland contingent of the Young Pipeliners Forum (YPF) held a presentation and drinks night in September that proved so successful it was decided to repeat the format of the event in November.
September saw over 60 young Pipeliners come together at the Regetta Hotel in Toowong to enjoy presentations, drinks and networking opportunities.
The sunny state young Pipeliners listened to three 10 minute presentations from industry professionals, Dave Reeves from the Southern Regional Water Pipeline Alliance, Shane Becker from OSD Pipelines and Rob Simpson from Santos.
The presentation topics were varied: from ‘Pipeline Engineering and Construction of Water Pipelines’ and ‘Generation Y Performance Reviews’ to ‘Conceptual Project Development’.
A discussion panel question and answer session was held, followed by refreshments provided by Oil Search Limited. Extremely positive feedback was received regarding the overall concept of speakers and drinks.

Going to ‘the ‘Gong’
APIA’s YPF group is planning another visit to APIA members in Wollongong in April 2009. The last visit to the ‘Gong’ was held in 2007 and was a great success. As well as visiting BlueScope Steel, pipemakers Orrcon and OneSteel and pipe coating companies APC Socotherm and Bredero Shaw, the group will travel to Sydney for the APIA dinner on 16 April 2009. Given the YPF numbers have increased somewhat over the past couple of years, APIA expects a lot of interest in this visit. For more information contact APIA on 02 6273 0577
