The company is a division of Toll Group, Australia’s largest specialised logistics provider. The capabilities of TPS are wide and varied and include pipeline logistics operations where it undertakes the movement of line pipe via road, rail and sea transportation. TPS also undertakes stockpile operations and all necessary works to connect the various modes of transport.
During October 2007, TPS commenced the initial deliveries of this the Brooklyn – Lara pipeline being constructed by A J Lucas for APA Group. On completion the pipeline will deliver natural gas from Lara, just north of Geelong in Victoria, to Brooklyn located near to Melbourne. The pipeline will supply the Laverton North Natural Gas Power Station.
In order to match the anticipated construction requirements, TPS designed a line pipe delivery process incorporating a combination of direct road deliveries from Kembla Grange in NSW to the Right of Way in Victoria, as well as regular rail deliveries with wagons loaded in Port Kembla, transported to Dynon terminal in Melbourne, unloaded onto road transport and delivered to the right of way.
Construction of this pipeline is now nearing completion and by the end of February TPS successfully completed the delivery of almost 6,000 tonnes of pipe in 18 m lengths.

TPS has also recently commenced logistics activities for a pipeline which will connect the Newcastle Inter-Connector to a new gas turbine generator located at the Delta Electricity Power stations near Munmorah in NSW.
Initially over 6,500 tonnes of bare line pipe has been discharged from vessel and transported to stockpile while it awaits coating at Kembla Grange. Once coated the pipe will be delivered to Munmorah, where TPS will undertake stockpiling activities prior to construction.
Aside from works undertaken in the oil, gas and water pipeline infrastructure sector, TPS also operates in several other project freight spheres with capabilities including various transport and logistics management activities and studies, ship and barge chartering for ocean transportation, ultra heavy transport solutions, equipment erection and jacking and skating operations, dangerous and sensitive cargoes.
Some examples of different types of operations completed recently by TPS include receipt and stockpiling shipments of 30 m steel piles for various expansion activities undertaken by the Port Kembla Port Authority; the importation, consolidation and transport of a soil remediation plant for Thiess to its redevelopment site at Homebush Bay; and, the delivery of various components of a complete tunnel boring machine from Melbourne to Bogong in the Victoria Alps. The delivery of components for the Bogong tunnelling project included a 90 tonne main section for which TPS had to undertake a detailed consultative process with the Victoria Road authorities in order to allow the cargo to pass over the many aging stone bridges usually only designed for passenger vehicle movements.
With the resources of the rest of the Toll Group at their disposal, no project is out of reach for Toll Project Services.
