The Australian Pipeliner — January 2010
The Western Australian Young Pipeliners Forum enjoyed a night of drinks, food and fierce competition when they got together for barefoot lawn bowls at the Mt Lawley Bowls Club in December.
Building on the success of the 2008 event, more than 40 people attended the evening held on 2 December 2009. Eleven teams from companies such as APA Group, Coffey, Rosen, Westnet Energy and WorleyParsons competed for bragging rights and a chance to get their name on the trophy.
The winning team this year was Enerflex’s ‘Barefoot Bandits’ (named after the team’s controversial victory decision), consisting of Farhan Ishak, Gonzalo Authelet, Huw Davis and James Matison. The runners up were a team consisting of Kelvin Andrijich from Enerflex, Alaa Hassan and Andrew Pauchnik, both from McConnell Dowell.
Due to the event’s popularity and success, it has become an annual event.
The next WA YPF event scheduled is a quiz night in March 2010, which will be aimed at bringing together all age groups within the pipeline industry.
